"No, I don't thank you for the fish at all" (notindetroit)

This is just a personal observation, but I've noticed that the biggest NPOCP wins are cars that either have a medium-high Jalop rating and are priced moderately (in this case, being defined in the 4k-8k range) or are just so dirt cheap it's hard to loose. Cars priced in the stratosphere (15k and higher) tend to be automatic Crack Pipe losses no matter how desirable or how high the Jalop rating is. Let's look at a few examples:
Based on my arbitrary, pulled-from-ass observations, this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! should be an automatic lock - I'd guess at least a 65% NP win, maybe in the 70+% range. It fits all the above criteria perfectly: high Jalop cred, very low price.
This !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on the other hand would probably be narrower - I'd say in the 55%-60% NP range. Yes, it has a very high Jalop rating but the price is middling.
Now let's take a look at this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Yes, it's very clean, has a Jalop rating through the roof and is an undeniably classic vintage. 82k is steep, but reasonable for the price range and certainly cheaper than a half-mil Singer 911. But 82k is still too cheap to be a real, credible NP win and I'd say this would fall to a 70% CP rating. The price is simply too stratospheric.
Maybe this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! will have better luck. At 15k it's much more reasonably priced, and is set up for the drag strip. You'll have to query the current owner about whether or not it's streetable though, but it looks like it might still be. The owner proudly advertises sub-5 second quarter mile times(!) to the point where it's emblazoned on the car's back window. All of that considered, and taken at face value, it should be an automatic NP win especially at this price. But remember, it's not the value, it's the total price, and I'm predicting a very narrow NP victory, maybe as little as 51%.
At the other end of this spectrum we have this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Now the Regal isn't exactly the most desirable car in the world - unless it's a Regal T-Type. Unfortunately I haven't bothered investigating the EBay add enough to see if that's the case, but once again this car's set up for the drag strip. Either way with a price as low as 2k it should be a decent NP win at 55% or higher - the price is so low, it's hard to lose.
So what does the rest of Oppo think? Am I on to something or am I completely off my rocker panels?

There's definitely a mathematical equation there, involving the Jalop-o-Meter and the price. It wouldn't be an equation that works every time, but 90% of the time it would work every time.

That Regal is gross and scary.

Anything above $15k that has had custom work done is almost guaranteed to be a CP.
Anything at all under $10k that isn't hideous and at least has a semi decent jalop rating has a really good chance at NP.
I think many of us ask ourselves "Would I buy this?" and the fact of the matter is most of us wouldn't buy anything used short of say, a Corvette or NSX, for more than $15k.

I don't get why virtually every car north of 10-15K loses. I would venture to guess that most of the voters are broke or have no concept of actual vehicle values, in which case, they're on the wrong site.

That RX-7 is fantastic! And good analysis.
Virtually every car above 50k$ loses, and as someone said unless is has some racing pedigree, anything above 12-15k$ that is slightly modded always loses.
The whole NPOCP thing probably comes down to asking yourself "Is this car a mistake I'd be willing to make?". Most of us can't probably cannot and most likely would not put more than 5-8k in a weird project car, which the NPOCP's always seem to be. Which is why all the high-value cars lose. Whereas a 2k$ POS will always have people vote NP just because they think (truthfully or not) they can turn it into something worthwhile.
